Invitation to Volunteer
On behalf of the Korean National Committee of the World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) 2026, we are honored to invite volunteers to participate in the IFLA WLIC 2026 Busan, to be held from Monday, 10 August to Thursday, 13 August 2026 at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO), Republic of Korea.
Volunteers will be essential to the successful delivery of IFLA WLIC 2026 Busan. Welcoming participants from around 150 countries, volunteers will help create a hospitable and inclusive environment for delegates while supporting the professional operation of the Congress.
WLIC 2026 will serve as a global platform that brings together the expertise and experience of the international library and information community, fostering discussion and collaboration on key challenges in today’s evolving information environment. Volunteering offers a valuable opportunity to engage with global trends and exchange ideas with professionals from around the world.
Your participation will contribute significantly to the success of this important international event while supporting your own personal and professional growth. We sincerely welcome your interest and involvement.

Benefits
Receive free registration as a Volunteer at IFLA WLIC 2026. Volunteers are a valued part of the Congress. After your shifts, you can attend the conference sessions, network with fellow librarians and explore the exhibition.
Criteria
The criteria for selection are as follows:
- You must be at least 18 years.
- You must have a basic level of English to communicate with participants from around the world.
- Through your own arrangements, you must be available to attend scheduled training sessions online and in person on Saturday, 08 August, in Busan.
- You are available to perform your volunteer duties from 09 August until 13 August 2026 through your own arrangements. IFLA does not provide accommodation or transport during the congress.
- You are physically fit to maintain a moderate level of physical activity for 8 hours per day and able to be on foot and move at a quick pace. If you are using a wheelchair or have other impairments that would hinder this, please indicate this in the volunteer form, and we can look for a suitable position for you.
- Able to fund and take care of your own travel arrangements (including flights, visa, transportation, and accommodation).
Application
We are looking for volunteers with the time, dedication, and enthusiasm to assist us in successfully delivering this international event. If you are professional, committed, hardworking, reliable, and culturally sensitive, then you are exactly what we are looking for. Your details on the completed forms will be held securely and confidentially. Only the selection committee will have access to this information.
A series of upskilling programmes and training sessions will be offered to volunteers, and an information kit will be provided regarding specific duties and benefits.
