Library Visits

All Library Visits will take place on Thursday, 13 August 2026.

These are mostly visits to local libraries in Busan, which can be made by walking or taking a bus trip within the city. If applicable, participants will be charged a minimal fee to cover the transportation costs. These costs are not included in the conference registration fee. 

Additionally we have some Libraries in Seoul and other regions of Korea. The travel information for those will be shared in the upcoming weeks.

Busan Metropolitan Library

Opened in 2020 in Deokpo-dong, Sasang-gu with six floors (B2–4F), Busan Metropolitan Library serves as the regional central library overseeing public libraries and reading initiatives across the city. It operates an integrated online library platform and provides a creative environment where everyone can freely explore knowledge and culture.

Busan City Hall Open Library (Deullak Nallak)

Opened on September 20, 2022, the Busan City Hall Open Library (Deullak Nallak) is a key facility within the city’s “15-Minute City” initiative. Designed as a cultural space for children and families, it offers an environment where visitors can freely explore books and digital content together.

Yeongdo Library

Yeongdo Library, a hub public library in Yeongdo-gu, Busan, serves as a center for local cultural engagement by offering tailored programs for each life stage. Reflecting the area’s identity, the library has adopted “marine and fisheries” as a specialized theme and developed its collections, providing the community with a wide range of knowledge and information.

Busan Namgu Library

Busan Namgu Library, opened on July 1, 1997, has been a leading public library in Nam-gu, serving as a central hub for reading culture in the community. The library provides well-curated and up-to-date materials through resource sharing and collaboration, and continues to play a central role in advancing the community’s knowledge and cultural life.

Suyeong-gu Library

Nestled in the pleasant natural surroundings of Mt. Geumnyeon, Suyeong-gu Library first opened in 2002 and has since become a key hub for culture and learning in the community. Following its reopening in 2022, it was reimagined as a modern, multi-functional cultural space.

Haeundae Humanities Library

Haeundae Humanities Library is a hub library for the Banyeo, Bansong, and Jaesong areas, playing a key role in expanding access to knowledge and encouraging engagement with the humanities among local residents.

Gangseo Miracle Library

Gangseo Miracle Library is the first Miracle Library in Busan and a children’s public library established in cooperation with the Book Culture Foundation.

The library holds a unique story: a 300-year-old hackberry tree, once at risk due to urban development, was relocated to the site and incorporated into the library’s design so that children can grow alongside the wisdom it has preserved over time.

Geumsaem Library

Geumsaem Library was established as a family-friendly cultural space and is widely visited by young readers and families. Among Busan’s 41 district-level public libraries, it ranked third in circulation as of December 2025. With a steady rise in collection use since its opening, it has become a well-loved library in the community.

Jurye Open Library

A window to the future of knowledge, Jurye Open Library opened on October 4, 2024, as the third public library in Sasang-gu, Busan. The district acquired and transformed a former apartment development site—once a source of community conflict—into a library the residents had long dreamed of.

Deokcheon Library

Deokcheon Library in Buk-gu, Busan is a family-friendly library that integrates diverse content into a multi-purpose cultural space, supporting the creative growth of local children. With its distinctive tiered shelving and the “Book Garden” outdoor reading deck, the library has become an integral part of the residents’ everyday lives. It serves as a community-centered platform where people of all generations can coexist and grow together.

Seogu Amidream Library

Seogu Amidream Library, opened in November 2025, is the first district public library in Seo-gu, Busan. As an “everyday library,” it brings new vitality to reading culture in Ami-dong, an area considered culturally underserved. The name “Amidream” combines “Ami-dong,” where the library is located, and “ARMY,” the fan community of the global artist BTS, reflecting the idea of pursuing dreams and growth through books.

Yeonje Manhwa Library

Opened in June 2025, Yeonje Manhwa Library is a public library dedicated to manhwa, going beyond the collection and preservation of comics to offer opportunities to engage with manhwa culture in everyday life.

The four-story building provides a wide range of manhwa-themed experiences that transcend traditional reading spaces.

Hadan Library

Located on the second to fifth floors of the Hadan Complex Center, known for its beautiful sunsets, Hadan Library has a total floor area of 1,897.8㎡ and a collection of approximately 45,000 volumes. The library includes a Children’s Collection, General Collection, and a Digital Experience Room, and the entire space is designed as a family-friendly experiential cultural space “Deullak Nallak.”

Geumjeong Library

Since its opening in 1996, Geumjeong Library has been a leading public library in Geumjeong-gu for nearly three decades, supporting the intellectual growth of local residents with approximately 250,000 items. Going beyond traditional circulation services, it offers tailored educational programs for each life stage and works to strengthen digital literacy. Reflecting the area’s strong ties with universities and research institutions, it actively collaborates with these partners to meet the community’s high demand for knowledge and learning.

Dongnaegu Innovation Eoullim Small Library

Located within the Dongnaegu Innovation Eoullim Center, Innovation Eoullim Small Library is an experiential library that combines books with digital content, along with “Deullak Nallak,” a children’s cultural space. The library offers media-based creative reading activities for children, and provides a range of reading programs for all age groups, including family participation. Beyond the library, visitors can also access various facilities within the center.

Busan Metropolitan Simin Library

With a history spanning over 120 years, Busan Metropolitan Simin Library is the first public library in Korea, contributing to the development of reading culture in the region through its extensive collection of approximately 900,000 items and a wide range of distinctive reading programs.

Busan Metropolitan Haeundae Library

Busan Metropolitan Haeundae Library is a public library operated by the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, with a specialized English-language collection for children that reflects the area’s high proportion of foreign residents. The library offers a wide range of English picture books and resources for infants and children, and supports self-motivated English reading through programs led by native speakers.

Busan Metropolitan Saha Library

Busan Metropolitan Saha Library is a community-based public library that plays an integral role in the daily lives of residents in Saha-gu. It offers tailored collections and reading programs for all age groups. Through participatory activities such as children’s reading camps and youth reading discussion camps, the library supports literacy development and lifelong learning, while strengthening its role as a specialized provider of career and employment information.

Busan English Library

Busan English Library, operated by the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, is an English-only public library with a collection of approximately 80,000 items. It also operates the Busan English Digital Library to enhance access to English learning opportunities and improve reading accessibility.

Busan Mathematics Culture Museum

The Mathematics Library is an experiential learning space designed to make mathematics accessible and engaging through a diverse collection of mathematics resources and hands-on learning materials.

Maenbal Dongmu Library

Started in 2005 as a small community gathering of seven residents, Maenbal Dongmu Library has evolved into a model ‘Library by the Citizens,’ with over 100 volunteers now participating in all aspects of its operation.

National Assembly Busan Library

The National Assembly Busan Library, opened in March 2022, is the first regional branch of the National Assembly Library of Korea. It plays a key role in systematically preserving national documentary resources and supporting the legislative activities of local councils.

Bookdoochilseong Library

Bookdoochilseong Library is a multipurpose cultural space opened in May 2021, established with the vision of Chairman Jung Cheol-won of Hyupsung General Construction Co., Ltd., who values the power of reading and his deep affection for Busan. It is open to all citizens.

Pusan National University Library

Pusan National University Library, established in 1946, operates six specialized libraries across three campuses and serves as a central hub within the regional academic community.

The Central Library is a collections-focused repository that systematically preserves and exhibits national heritage materials, including the Mokjang Map and Daedongyeojido. It provides a wide range of academic resources while also offering services that incorporate advanced technologies, such as immersive content experiences.

Pukyong National University Library

Pukyong National University Library, located in the heart of Busan, is a key regional academic library providing user-focused services to support teaching, research, and learning of faculty and students. While the library also serves as an open learning space for the community, it offers integrated search services and diverse content through an advanced web-based information system.

National Korea Maritime & Ocean University Library

Following the recent renovation of the Main Building and the construction of the New Building, National Korea Maritime & Ocean University Library has been transformed into a modern, user-centered space.

Dong-Eui University Central Library

Dong-Eui University Central Library supports learning and research across a wide range of disciplines with an extensive collection of approximately 1.3 million volumes.

Silla University Library

Since its opening in 1966, Silla University Library has served as a central academic facility, developing and managing its collection while supporting the research and learning of faculty and students. Housed in a five-story building (B1–4F), the library provides a well-designed study space and user-centered information services.

Busan University of Foreign Studies Central Library

Busan University of Foreign Studies Central Library is a smart, multi-purpose cultural space designed with students’ learning needs as a top priority. The library maintains extensive collections in less commonly taught languages such as Thai and Arabic, along with a wide range of language and linguistics resources. It also offers diverse themed collections, including Korean and English reading materials, webtoons, and career resources.

Busan Cinema Center Library

Since the opening of the Cinematheque Busan in 1999, the Busan Cinema Center Library has steadily built its film collection, now holding approximately 48,300 items. In particular, its unique archival materials—including films presented at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and Cinematheque program archives—are available only at this library. Together with the classic and independent film VOD services provided by the Busan branch of the Korean Film Archive, these resources serve as valuable assets for both film researchers and the general public.

National Maritime Museum of Korea Maritime Library

Located within the National Maritime Museum of Korea, the Maritime Library is a specialized library that systematically collects and preserves resources across various maritime fields, including history, culture, and maritime territory. It holds approximately 57,000 items, including print and electronic resources as well as research materials.

F1963 Art Library

Originally a wire factory built in 1963 and transformed into a cultural complex in 2018, the F1963 Library is a specialized art library that transcends its origins in urban regeneration, enriching both the senses and the spirit through art.

Gangdong Elementary School Library (Byeolparang)

Gangdong Elementary School Library, Byeolparang, was newly renovated in 2025 after being selected for the “Byeolbit Library” initiative, part of the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education’s education innovation program.

Seoul Metropolitan Library

As the leading public library of Seoul, the Seoul Metropolitan Library has, since its opening in 2012, developed inclusive library policies under the vision of a “Library for Growth and Inclusion,” ensuring access for all citizens at any time and in any place. In particular, it has introduced the world’s first “Outdoor Library” concept, turning major civic spaces—including Seoul Plaza, Gwanghwamun Square, and Cheonggyecheon Stream—into open-air reading environments, creating an innovative public reading culture infrastructure.

Jeongdok Public Library

Established in 1977 on the former site of Gyeonggi High School, the Jeongdok Public Library is a central public library of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, set in an environment where nature and history are thoughtfully preserved.

National Library of Korea

The National Library of Korea is the national library of the Republic of Korea, opened on October 15, 1945, shortly after Korea’s liberation.

National Library for Children and Young Adults

The National Library for Children and Young Adults is Korea’s national library for children and young adults, opened on June 28, 2006.

The library holds a collection of approximately 850,000 items of domestic and international materials for children and young adults. In addition to offering a wide range of reading and cultural programs, it provides information services for picture book authors and researchers.

National Assembly Library

The National Assembly Library of Korea is a premier national library that has contributed to the development of parliamentary democracy and the improvement of quality of life in Korea by providing reliable knowledge and information.

Gyeonggi Library

Located in Gwanggyo, Suwon, within the Gyeonggi Convergence Town, Gyeonggi Library serves as the central library of Gyeonggi-do, embodying a future-oriented vision that reflects contemporary values such as climate and environment, artificial intelligence, and human-centered services.

Paju City Munsan Library

The Paju Munsan Library is a regional hub library serving northern Paju. First opened in 1994, it was relocated and expanded in September 2025, and now operates in its current form.

The library holds a collection of approximately 110,000 volumes and is designed based on universal design, with all spaces connected by ramps, ensuring accessibility for all users.
