Bookdoochilseong Library is a multipurpose cultural space opened in May 2021, established with the vision of Chairman Jung Cheol-won of Hyupsung General Construction Co., Ltd., who values the power of reading and his deep affection for Busan. It is open to all citizens.
The library takes its name from the Big Dipper, a constellation that has long served as a guide for travelers. Just as navigators once found their way by the stars, the library aspires for books to serve as guiding lights in life.
Designed around the motif of the Big Dipper, the library features seven circular book stacks. At the center are curated thematic collections, organized into seven key themes that reflect the library’s philosophy.
At Chaekoreum* Plaza, where tiered bookshelves and an intimate plaza come together, visitors can enjoy a variety of cultural programs such as film screenings and humanities talks. The Art Hall hosts a monthly sunset concert, along with a wide range of performances and programs for the community.
(* Chaekoreum means “rising high with books”)
