Since the opening of the Cinematheque Busan in 1999, the Busan Cinema Center Library has steadily built its film collection, now holding approximately 48,300 items. In particular, its unique archival materials—including films presented at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and Cinematheque program archives—are available only at this library. Together with the classic and independent film VOD services provided by the Busan branch of the Korean Film Archive, these resources serve as valuable assets for both film researchers and the general public.
Moving beyond the traditional role of a repository, the library aspires to be an experiential, multi-purpose cultural space where visitors can engage with film through all five senses. It also offers a wide range of content and interactive programs. Through ongoing content development, the library continues to expand its role as a vibrant cultural space for experiencing and enjoying film.
